Production Log (Day 1)

Today we planned to do the college and shop scenes, but we also did our park scenes as we had extra time. This puts us ahead schedule, excluding the five scenes we have to reshoot. We first started with the college (classroom and corridors) scenes as we were already in the locations we needed to film and because most students would be in their classrooms, so there were less likely to be any disruptions. All of our equipment was checked and given to us early in a timely manner. For the first few shots while filming we used a boom stick and the tripod, after those short scenes we left the boom stick in the classroom as our teacher was there to keep it safe and we only needed it for the beginning. The next scene we filmed were the corridor scenes. We had to do a few retakes for Scene 2 Shot 1 as me and Calvin had some criticisms for Harvey's acting, but it was worth it as we don't have to retake that scene and were proud of the final result. For the shop we had to wait a bit as the shopkeeper said we had a specific time to record inside and we were early, so we took a break here. Unfortunately one of the shots we have to retake is in here, which will be a detour, but as it's only one shot we won't be there for too long. The final place we shot at was the park, we did many shots here just incase we needed more footage. We ended up with a wide range of different shots as well, like Scene 6 Shot 3 being a mid shot on a bridge while Scene 2 Shot 3 is a long shot of Harvey on the field. Despite the different shots we still kept the theme consistent by having Harvey dance along to the music

As the producer I mostly helped by giving criticism and making sure everyone and the equipment was safe. Earlier on in Scene 1 Shot 7, we did a retake as I said that I, Calvin and Matt were in the reflection of the window and we ended up really liking the new shot. I learnt that filming didn't actually take that long, overall I think I did a good job

We didn't use any carrot chains as planned because the carrots were too soft to use and kept breaking apart. For the car park scenes we were given permission to only use them at a specific time and we were doing the shop scenes then. This is my fault for not keeping everyone on schedule. We didn't include paper money as it's illegal to print out money and we decided that we didn't need it as the toy gun was enough for the scene it was going to be used in

One thing we have to do is retake five scenes, which we'll have the time to do tomorrow. While walking to the Church we have to go through the park so it won't affect our schedule too much. The last scenes we have to do besides the retakes are the Church, the Car Park and the TV Studio. I also have to finish the Unit 1 & Unit 2 Task 1 improvements tomorrow. The deadline to finish these production logs is on the 5th of October at 9:15am so I may have an extra 15 minutes on the self directed study time to finish these logs. The most urgent deadline is the Unit 1 & Unit 2 Task 1 improvements which is due on the 1st of October at 10:00am, I'll have an extra hour to finish it but I definitely need to spend more time on it

Production Log (Day 2)

Today we planned to use the TV Studio, the car park, Church and reshoot any scenes we needed to. We first started with filming in the TV Studio, but because we had to reshoot a few scenes I had to change the call sheets before joining them. We filmed the scenes that would go with the chorus and some extra scenes of Harvey dancing incase we needed them. Before filming the car park scenes we had to get permission to, which we did. Today for the scenes outside it was raining, we used an umbrella to protect the equipment while we were filming. We then walked to the park to refilm Scene 6 Shot 5, the new shot being suitable to use. The next scene was at the Church which took awhile to walk to but was worth it at the shot we did there was good. We decided to leave the college shots for last as it wouldn't matter if it was raining for them. We finished the last shots we needed to in here, for example Scene 4 Shot 1 and Scene 4 Shot 2 and we used some extra equipment like the tracking dolly for reshooting Scene 2 Shot 2 as Calvin thought the shot would be better with it. We had to get another tripod for the one scene as the one we were using didn't fit inside the tracking dolly

As the producer I had to change the call sheets to include the reshoots before going out to film with the rest of the crew. I also kept everyone on schedule to the point where we finished earlier than expected and kept a copy of the storyboard to make sure we filmed the scenes. Something I learnt was that despite me not doing much with filming other than helping carry equipment, producers have to do a lot of paperwork behind the scenes. Producers are an important job as they make sure everyone is safe so they can film. Compared to yesterday I think I did even better

We don't have to retake any scenes as all the shots we did were good, but we will have to edit them later. I still have to finish the Unit 1 & Unit 2 Task 1 improvements (due on 1/10/21 at 10am) which I will do after school
