Production Log
Daily Diary 18/10
I was asked to come in earlier at 8:45 to have a meeting with the rest of my team and was surprised when I heard the email the actors sent to our teacher. They sent a complaint about our lack of professionalism and respect during the three filming days. As a team, we sent an apology on my email address since I'm the producer and we've asked if our reimbursement of £20 to each actor would be acceptable
As seen by my production page, I thought filming was going really well and the actors were having fun. But after further reflection of the situation, I realise that we were very unprofessional. On the last day of production we finished filming early and I thought about asking if the actors wanted anything but they were packing up to leave so I wrongfully assumed they didn't want anything
I thought about writing back to them that we both agreed the call time was at 11:30 on Wednesday and it was never 12:00, but didn't include it in the email since we're apologising to them and it'd be wrong of me to bring it up
Moving on, today is the first day of editing our first draft of our short film. I offered to transfer the footage of the last filming day to our camera operator as he wasn't here on that day, so I had to start editing a bit later than everyone else. I was still able to finish my first draft today though
While editing I realise there are certain bits of the footage that I disliked, I realised I hated the uneven lighting in the interrogation scenes (except from Joie's scenes since both sides are the same colour, this also meant that scene didn't really fit with the two others lighting-wise) and the green lighting we used was way too strong. The interrogation scenes shouldn't be too difficult to fix, but I don't think I can get rid of the green lighting really. Its especially more frustrating since I realised the natural colours of the house were perfectly fine and would even align with Wes Anderson's usual lighting style too. The whole team is the lighting operator but I feel mostly at fault since I helped with the lights. I think we all got too caught up with the movie having to have colours, I wish I realised that earlier since we obviously can't reshoot the scenes now
I also feel like knowing that the actors hated working on this really dampens my mood with this project as well, its very demotivating to me. I'll try not to let it affect my work too much since at the end of the day, we all want it to turn out well still

Peer Feedback

Daily Diary 19/10
I finished my rough edit and am now moving onto my final edit of the film. Depending on how early I come into college tomorrow I'll have two hours to continue working on it until it has to be finished and exported (8am-10am)
I heavily regret going with a green gel still as the natural colours of the house we used look perfectly fine for a Wes Anderson movie. I think we all got too caught up on the colours and it will heavily hinder all of our work since we can't remove it. The darkness on day three of production is also very hard to work with, I knew the weather would be more dark that day so I wished I caught onto that on the start of that day

Evaluation
Daily Diary 20/10
I was able to finish my final edit, my evaluation and this entire unit today. I left my house at about 8:15 but arrived at 8:40 due to traffic
I don't think film is my thing at all. I feel better about the final edit of the short film, if it wasn't for the time limit I imagine editing it could've even been a bit fun. I would do my own projects so I'd be able to enjoy that freedom but I don't have Premiere Pro at home nor would I know what to film really
I'm surprised we're not doing audience feedback for the film, as said in a previous diary I did have people on r/WesAnderson who were interested in seeing the final product. I would've done it but there was no time between finishing the edit and writing the evaluation so I assume that's why we didn't do it. It's not like I'm desperate to show anyone the final edit though so I guess I won't complain too much
